The Golden Mile
The north phase of the Golden Mile was completed with a cedar walking path and the maintenance and maturing of the trees which are growing nicely. Over 2500 trees were planted in cooperation with the Ontario Conservation Society.
Currently dozens community members use this walking trail and express their gratitude by contributing to the lawn cutting!
Phase 2 for the south end of the Golden Mile will complete the circumference of the property. Updates will begin later this year.
Friends of Pinecrest
This corporation was established in January of 2025 and has charitable status with the CRA. Friends of Pinecrest is able to raise funds for Pinecrest Housing through Canada Helps. The goal of the corporation is to fundraise and collect donations for the purpose of the relief of poverty and the indignity of old age.
Community Benefits
The Prince Edward County Community Benefit Network (CBN) brings together residents, community organizations, local businesses, and institutions to secure tangible community benefits from development. The Network emphasizes partnerships, collective action, and community voice to address affordability, food access, transportation gaps, and the erosion of essential services in rural PEC.
Through the most recent listening session, residents, service providers, and community partners identified a powerful shared vision: Pinecrest should function not only as housing, but as a community hub—a place that brings essential services, food access, childcare, arts, health supports, and social connection together under one roof.
The CBN works to ensure that development is balanced with inclusion, sustainability, and local priorities. Pinecrest Housing is the FIRST Community Benefit Network in a rural community in Canada.
